Krylov vs. Ankalaev: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Krylov 27-7 Ankalaev 14-1

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Since arriving at the UFC level, Krylov has alternated wins and losses in his four fights. He has a win by submission over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 236, so he has the tools to win on any night. He has losses to Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, which are certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. While that’s all well and good, Ankalaev enters on a three-bout KO/TKO streak, including back-to-back round-1 stoppages against Ion Cutelaba. Roll with ANKALAEV BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (-125) on the 5-way line.

Over/Under (O/U)

Play NO (-200): “WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE?” While risking two times your potential return is a little more than I like to spend, it’s a good bet we’ll get a finish between these two. UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-155) is a slightly better value.

In addition, roll with ANKALAEV TO WIN ROUND 1 (+225) for a chance to more than double up. Each of his past two fights haven’t lasted past the first round.

It’s time to get your top bets down for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov this Saturday, February 6.

I am here, of course, to assist you with that.

In doing so, I’ll be providing my predictions for Overeem vs. Volkov and the rest of the fights on the card, as well as highlighting the best online bets for the UFC’s next event. Looking for the top sleepers to target? Yup, I got you covered there, too, and will also provide the odds for my wagers of choice.

Ready when you are.

Alistair Overeem enters the 67th professional fight of his career, knowing that a win over Alexander Volkov could land him a UFC title shot.

Yes, he’s chinny. You could say he’s on the wrong side of 40. I can’t argue against the fact that he has been put to sleep 16 times as a pro. But you know what? I’m still picking Overeem to beat Volkov.

That’s right. I’m kicking off my UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov predictions by backing the “Demolition Man” to knock the Russian out. How about that for a bold UFC prediction for this weekend?

As I explain in my Overeem vs. Volkov betting preview, this shouldn’t sound nearly half as wild as it does to some bettors.

Overeem is on a two-fight streak with convincing wins over Walt Harris and Augusto Sakai. All in all, he is 4-1 from his last five, with wins over Sergei Pavlovich and Alexey Oleynik sandwiching a stoppage loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik that should have been a decision win.

The Dutchman can get this done on the feet, in the clinch, or on the ground. But whatever happens, my prediction for the UFC main event this Saturday is a KO/TKO win for Overeem.

The Reem could get a shot at the title currently held by Stipe Miocic with a win. How awesome would that be?

Cory Sandhagen is one of a handful of fighters that have helped to make the UFC bantamweight division one of the crown jewels of global combat sports.

Sandhagen is an excellent mixed martial artist with a very balanced skillset. He can pretty much do it all. The “Sandman” will likely get to fight for the title with a win on the night, but I don’t think it will be the walk in the park that some expect.

Why? Cos Frankie Edgar. That’s why.

Yes, Edgar is at the tail end of his career and is unlikely to get far at 135. But let’s not forget that he is a former champion of the UFC lightweight division and was one of the best fighters on the planet, pound for pound, until a couple of years ago.

The younger man should have too much for Edgar in the end. My prediction for Sandhagen vs. Edgar is a decision win for the soon-to-be title challenger.

Make sure to check out my piece outlining the best online odds and bets for Sandhagen vs. Edgar.

Chiasson to Beat Reneau by Decision

After winning The Ultimate Fighter, Macy Chiasson has put together a solid record of 3-1.

Her only loss as a pro came against Lina Lansberg in 2019, which was a tough one to take for the native of New Orleans. Chiasson got back in the win column with a decision victory over Shanna Young in February 2020, and I’m picking her to do the same against Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov.

Chiasson won’t have it easy against Reneau, given the Belizean Bruiser is past her best. At 43, there is only one way her career is going, so this is a good opportunity for the American to add another name to her resume.

If you’re planning on betting on UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov, Chiasson to win is among the best online wagers to place on the fight.

For the win, you can get odds of -225 with the best MMA betting apps online right now. Alternatively, you can see what UFC prop bets are on offer for the fight this weekend.

Pantoja to Beat Kape by Decision

Ufc Fight Night Prelims Predictions Results

The most emphatic of my predictions for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov is that Alexandre Pantoja vs. Manel Kape will be the fight of the night.

Pantoja is a fighter that is as tough as they come and has some well-rounded skills to boot. The Brazilian is chasing a UFC flyweight title shot and will greatly help his cause with a win over the hot prospect, Kape.

This is Kape’s first fight in the promotion, and what a baptism of fire it is. He will be worked to the bone by the #5 ranked flyweight, but a win on the night would send Starboy’s stock into orbit.

I’m not sure Kape has what it takes to outsmart Pantoja. He hasn’t fought since December 2019, so there will be cage rust to shake off, too.

All signs lead to betting on Pantoja to beat Kape, but it won’t be easy. My prediction is that the fight will go the distance, with “The Cannibal” taking the win on the judges’ scorecards.

Askar Askar. A fighter so good they named him twice.

All jokes aside, it’s asking a lot of Askar to make his UFC debut against Cody Stamann and leave Las Vegas with a win.

Stamann is a solid operator that can grind out a result here. He’s not mega dangerous in terms of stopping power, but he is a hard man to break down.

If anything, this fight to go the distance should be considered among the best bets for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov. But I think Stamann deserves to be the favorite to win the fight, as he is the more likely to come out of this one with all the spoils.

Ferreira to Beat Dariush by Decision

Another one of my UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov predictions favors a decision win for the betting favorite.

If you’re wagering on Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Beneil Dariush, you’ll be gambling on one of the very toughest fights to call on the night.

— Diego Ferreira (@DiegoUFCTX) January 28, 2021

This is a rematch of their scrap at UFC 179 all the way back in 2014. Dariush got the upper hand in their first encounter, but I don’t think he’s going to come through this one unscathed. In fact, I predict the grappling-heavy Dariush opting to stand and trade with Ferreira, but only to get outpointed.

These two can end a fight at the drop of a hat. But I think it goes the distance.

UFC Fight Night Overeem vs. Volkov Prelims Predictions

There are a few decent fights on the prelims of the Overeem vs. Volkov card that I want to take a look at.

Let’s start with a little insight for those gambling real money on the UFC this Saturday by honing in on Michael Johnson vs. Clay Guida.

In 2016, Michael Johnson, the second (and last) fighter to knock out current lightweight champion, elect Dustin Poirier.

It took the now 34-year-old just over a minute to send “The Diamond” into the muck. But how things have changed since then.

It’s crazy, but Johnson’s potential was never realized. He has fought the absolute best of the best and had some huge moments in his career. But he has also been downright woeful.

I’m picking the ancient Clay Guida to wrestle the skin off his bones and take the win on the cards.

More on this and other sleepers for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov a little later.

Rodriguez to Beat Marques by KO/TKO

You can bet on Mike Rodriguez looking for the stoppage against Danilo Marques on Saturday night.

I think “Slow” will get it, too.

Marquez earned a win over Khadis Ibragimov in his UFC debut, but he’s going to face someone with more power on the night.

I’m calling this one, right now, as an early stoppage.

Timur Valiev lost to Trevin Jones by TKO in his UFC debut back in August 2020.

But due to a positive test for marijuana, the result was overturned to a no contest. So, technically speaking, Valiev is coming into this fight with a clean slate.

Martin Day is heading into the fight on the back of a three-fight skid, having been stopped in his last two.

Bet on Valiev to find his range and stop Day.

UFC Fight Night Picks for the Rest of the Prelims

  • Jaynes Beats Smith by KO/TKO
  • Rosa to Beat Edwards by Decision
  • McCann to Beat Procopio by Decision
  • Zalal to Beat Seung by KO/TKO
  • Osbourne to Beat Rivera by Decision
  • Sandhagen to Win (-400)
  • Chiasson to Win by (-225)
  • Rodriguez to Win by KO/TKO (-125)

I’ve been following the UFC lines for this weekend for a while. I have to say the top real money MMA betting sites have some great odds and bets for the Overeem vs. Volkov card.

Ufc Fight Night Prelims Predictions

In terms of a lock, I think Sandhagen is as close as it gets. You can bump his odds up by opting for a decision win or a KO/TKO on the top props for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov.

Sandhagen and Chiasson to win sounds like a nice double bet. Alternatively, you can think about betting UFC this weekend with a three-fold parlay with Rodriguez added to the mix.

If you want to take a less measured gamble on the fights this Saturday, the prop bets below might be more up your street.

Best UFC Fight Night Overeem vs. Volkov Sleepers

  • Overeem to Win by KO/TKO (+275)
  • Guida to Win by Decision (+275)
  • Osborne to Win by Decision (+450)

The first of my UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov predictions was Overeem to win by KO/TKO.

Crazily enough, the best UFC betting sites are offering juicy odds for this particular prop bet. If +275 sounds good for gambling on Overeem earning the 26th KO/TKO of his career, you know what to do.

Guida’s odds to beat Johnson by way of decision are awesome, too. I think Johnson’s price is terrible, making Guida one of the best online bets for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov.

Finally, betting odds for the UFC this weekend don’t come better than Ode Osborne to win by decision. At +450, I’ll take these all day.

If you’re betting real money on UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov, there are some great bets there for you to get on.

Overeem is close to +300 to win by KO/TKO, which I think is great betting value. I don’t think it’s a major gamble to opt for the Dutchman to win by stoppage, but by all means, play it safe and take the win if that’s your bag.

There are another two top sleeper picks for the UFC this weekend, alongside smart bets on the fights. Make sure to include them on your list of bets for the Overeem vs. Volkov card if you agree with my point of view.
